Chiringa Brings Beachy Vibes to the Beltline

They say the Atlanta Beltline is beachfront property, so it's about time we got a beachy restaurant.
In the past week, Chiringa opened - inspired by casual bars along the coast of Spain called chiringuitos, which serve up drinks, snacks and maybe fresh fish or simple dishes.
I had been impatiently waiting for Chiringa to open. I first stopped by at lunch on a weekday, to meet with one of their staff members, Lauren. I started with their shrimp taco, prepared Cabo style with cabbage, avocado and jalapeno aioli. I ordered the shrimp blackened, but you can also get it grilled or fried. It was the best shrimp taco I've had in a while.

Lauren also recommended their wings. At first, I was reluctant. Every restaurant in Atlanta serves chicken wings. But she said they are really known for their wings, made with jerk spices, baked and grilled, and doused in a Siracha and agave syrup. I couldn't pass it up.
When I bit into the first wing, I was blown away. A former roommate of mine used to make wings at home, with the same drawn out process, and I have to say I miss them. These tasted like hers. Sweet and charred, with plump meat. Out of this world. Which in a town known for its wings, is saying something.

The blue cheese dressing was made from scratch, as are many of their sauces, like chipotle crema, curry mustard, cilantro dipping, tartar and more.
I couldn't stop thinking about that shrimp taco. The next night, I came back to Chiringa with my boyfriend. There was a line to order food. We were lucky to get a table inside their open air space, as the restaurant soon filled up. My boyfriend got the Cuban sandwich, which is also a favorite on the menu. Every table on the patio was taken, and I counted at least 5 dogs. Chiringa is known to be dog-friendly, which is another reason we were excited for them to open. As we love bringing dogs out to eat on our Doggie Crawl, we are always looking for dog-friendly restaurants on the Beltline.
Next to the restaurant, under a Beltline bridge, people were competing in the Cornhole ATL league. Chiringa, which already has a restaurant on the town green in Alpharetta, has a longstanding relationship with Cornhole ATL and are now hosting games at the Beltline location.

Of course, when you're at the beach, nothing hits the spot like an iced or frozen drink. Which Chiringa has plenty of. Mirroring the freshness of seaside restaurants, all of their juices, margaritas and cocktails are made with squeezed fruit.
And if you have a gluten intolerance, you'll be happy to know that 95% of their menu is GF. The breaded items, like chicken strips, are made with rice flour. Everything is cooked separately, I am told, to avoid cross-contamination. We sometimes have tour guests who request GF, so it's nice to have another option on the Beltline.
As the weather warms up, this is definitely a go-to spot on the Beltline. Hope to see you there!
